ATHENS - James A.
Joseph, who has served as the only u.s. ambassador to South Africa, spoke at
the UGA chapel Thursday night. Joseph
lectured on the leadership of Nelson Mandela, who he worked with, talked about
the importance of moral intelligence in leaders.
ATHENS - Athens-Clarke
County Police Officer Robbie Cochran helped save a women in a westside
apartment from killing herself. Cochran was called onto the scene Wednesday
night because he is known for communicating well with people who are upset.
ATHENS - The FAA will
not be removing air traffic controllers from the Athens Ben Epps Airport like
they had previously planned. Back in March, sequestration was on course to
close 149 towers that were targets because they handled less than 1% of US air
passengers.
GEORGIA - The state has
mandated that by 2015, every police agency must be using the Intoxilyzer 9000
as opposed to the 5000 model that's currently in use. These are the larger
machines located at the police station, rather than the smaller equipment that
officers have in their cars.
