ACCPD Blotter 10/29/11

Aggravated Assault

Nestor Miguel VASQUEZ, 29, reported that as he left the University of Georgia Soccer Complex on South Milledge Avenue, his vehicle was followed by a silver SUV that began blowing its horn and pulled alongside of his vehicle as if attempting to get him to stop. When VASQUEZ did not stop, the vehicle ran into the left rear side and rear bumper of the VASQUEZ vehicle. VASQUEZ drove to the police sub-station an Baxter where he made contact with officers. The silver SUV, a Toyota Four-Runner, was contacted on Baxter Street as well. Evidence from the two vehicles corroborated VASQUEZ’s account of the incident, and the driver of the Toyota, Malcolm Linville SMITH, 56, Watkinsville, GA was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Aggressive Driving. Neither VASQUEZ nor his passenger, Jeanene Sandra RICHARDS, 21, were injured. (Case # 11-10-2079)

Following the execution of a search warrant at an Old Monroe Road residence, Bernard Latrell FORD, 32, was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine With Intent to Distribute and Misdemeanor Obstruction of Officers. (Case # 11-10-2051)

Burglary

A storage unit on Elbert Street was entered and an Acer laptop Computer belonging to Charles Leonard PATAT, 59, was stolen. (Case # 11-10-2039)

The Somerset Drive residence of William Christopher HULSEY, 29, was entered through a pried-open front window and a 26” and 55” TV, Dell laptop computer, and an X-Box 360 Game System were stolen. (Case # 11-10-2094)

The front door of the Timber Ridge Apartments residence of Shelly Jean DONLEY, 30, was kicked open and her residence entered. Nothing was determined to be missing, but the residence had been ransacked. (Case # 11-10-2102)

Theft By Taking – Felony

Witnesses observed a red vehicle leaving from behind a vacant residence on Sayemore Drive. As the vehicle entered the roadway, an air conditioning unit fell out of the trunk. Two black males got out of the vehicle, and placed the air conditioning unit back in the trunk. Investigating officers discovered the unit had been taken from the rear of the residence. The red vehicle was located a short time later, and the occupants were positively identified by witnesses. Rhonda C. BLAIR, 41, Columbus Ave., Athens, Anthony Lee BALLARD, 54, Massey Lane, Athens, and Elmer Demetrius PIERCE, 40, Spring Court, Athens were all charged with Felony Theft By Taking. BALLARD was also charged with Possession of Burglary Tools and Driving With A Suspended License. The A/C unit was recovered. (Case # 11-10-2052)

Entering Auto

Mary Kathryn BLANTON, 22, reported her vehicle was entered through a broken window while parked on Ruth St. Nothing was reported stolen, but a purse and coat left in the vehicle had been moved about in the vehicle. (Case # 11-10-2030)

Brooklyn SIMMONS, 18, reported her vehicle was entered through a broken window while it was parked on Mandy Drive. A Garmin GPS System was stolen. (Case # 11-10-2034)

A vehicle belonging to Amy ZIMMERMAN, 22, was entered through a broken window while it was parked on Mandy Drive. The victim could not be contacted and it is not known if anything was taken. (Case # 11-10-2037)

Two vehicles were entered while parked at a residence on Jonas Avenue. Neither owner could be contacted, but a neighbor had left a note stating he had seen two subjects running from that location at approximately 6:15am on October 28. (Case # 11-10-2083)
