ACCPD Blotter 01/13/12

ARRESTS

Officers responded to an attempted theft of an air conditioner at EAST ATHENS BAPTIST CHURCH, 4325 Lexington Rd, around 0700 January 12.  A witness saw two males attempt to steal the unit.  When confronted, the males entered a white pickup truck and left the area.  A short time later an officer had contact with the vehicle off Cherokee Rd and a traffic stop was made.  The three occupants were identified and the witness confirmed the truck was the one he saw leaving the scene and two of the occupants were the suspects.  After questioning, LOREN OWENS, 20, W Spring St, Monroe, and ANDREW T. ALEXANDER, 19, St. Andrews Ct, were arrested and charged with Theft by Taking.  The third male was not charged.  (01-0706)

Around 1900 January 12 a male entered the BP STATION, 1735 Lexington Rd.  He brought several items to the counter as if to make a purchase.  He then displayed a large knife in an attempt to rob the store.  He chased the clerk through the store.  With assistance of customers, they were able to subdue the suspect and hold him until officers arrived.  COREY LAMAR VONGVATUNYU, 17, Zebulon Dr, was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of Tools During a Crime.  (01-0777)


BURGLARY

GRAYSON JAMES TAYLOR reported his Lakeside Dr residence burglarized between 1700 January 11 and 1500 January 12.  Lap tops with bags, total value $510, were stolen.  (01-0764)
